The winner of this  year’s Cookery School of the Year  Award at the 2017 Food Awards Scotland was the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School. The school was praised for its mix of culture with cuisine and the ability to offer everything from a one day course on a Saturday for enthusiastic home cooks or visitors to their Six Month Practical Cookery Diploma for aspiring Scottish chefs looking for a career in cookery.

The award winning Edinburgh New Town Cookery School is situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre and offers a range of courses that put everyone on the right path to becoming a successful cook. With something for every level of ability, from chefs to homemakers and students to food enthusiasts. ENTC’s professional approach gives all their students the skills to cook with confidence.

The school spans five floors and offers panoramic views across the Firth of Forth. The venue has a fully equipped teaching kitchen, a demonstration theatre with capacity for 50 delegates and a function room – all of which provides the ideal dining setting for corporate entertainment or team building

Offering a range of long and short courses designed to ignite passions for food and drink, Edinburgh New Town Cookery School was founded by Fiona Burrell, formerly Principal of Leith’s School of Food and Wine.

Fiona Burrell, principal at the school, is quoted as saying: “Whether students want to learn knife skills or life skills, our courses provide the highest standard of teaching and can lead to exciting careers in the food industry or bring a professional approach to your home cooking. We have a passion for food and a passion for teaching, and mixing them together makes for inspiring training.”

As well as the six months diploma course there are one day courses on Fish & Shellfish, Cooking with Game, Healthy Eating, Gluten Free Baking and Vegetarian Feasts.
