Alex Dalgetty & Sons is a fifth generation artisan bakery based in Galashiels, in the heart of the Scottish Borders. They produce range of delicious handmade Scottish bakery products. These are produced using original recipes and the highest quality natural ingredients in the heart of the Scottish Borders.
Alex Dalgety’s products include Black Bun, Ecclefechan Tart, Scottish Border Tart and the famous Original Selkirk Bannock – a rich fruit bread made with butter and lots of sultanas made in the traditional method and to the original recipes.
“My name is Craig Murray, great great grandson of Alex Dalgetty. My passion for baking has been passed on through the generations. My philosophy is to stay true to the traditions of the bakery, using high quality ingredients and traditional recipes to create world famous products such as the Famous Original Selkirk Bannock and Scotch Black Bun.
My bakery in Galashiels features traditional Scotch ovens which are over 120 years old and are still used on a daily basis. With a small team of skilled and dedicated craft bakers I ensure that we stick to traditional methods and techniques making us unique. I am also proud to say that I always use scratch recipes for all products would never use pre-mixes.”
