Abbey Cottage in New Abbey, Dumfries, serve morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas baked and cooked on the premises.
At weekends there are two additional hot dishes. Morag McKie and her staff offer warm Scottish hospitality combined with Scottish cooking. Visitors can enjoy browsing in the gift shop which stock crafts from the region.
Abbey Cottage has been owned by the same family for 3 generations and was opened in 1983 as a tearoom. Situated next to the ruins of Sweetheart Abbey, in the shadow of Criffel and on the way to the beach, our passions are home baking and local produce.
Our goal has always been to serve good, honest food in a relaxed atmosphere and informal environment. All our meals are freshly prepared and made to order, using ingredient from local suppliers. In 2012 we have once again received an Award of Excellence from The Tea Council in the Top Tea Place of the Year Awards, and are a regional finalist for the Scottish Thistle Awards.
